Food For All DC

Food For All DC (FFA) is a volunteer-run organization in Washington, DC that has been providing food to people facing adversity since 1984.

We deliver nutritious groceries to home-bound individuals, including those with health issues and disabilities, older adults, and single parents with young children. FFA also offers opportunities for meaningful volunteer engagement, promoting compassion and bringing people closer together.

Additionally, we provide bulk food deliveries to 12 partner organizations in DC, fostering solidarity and expanding their impact within the community. These partners use the food not only to stabilize lives but also to strengthen ties with their communities, enabling them to engage in union organizing, violence mitigation, and referrals to other services.

Note: All first-time volunteers 18 and over must register and sign a waiver (once only).

BAGGING (THURSDAYS AND FRIDAYS) Baggers typically work in groups of 3-6 people to pack 400 bags with an assortment of groceries each week. The shifts run from 8 to 11 AM on Thursday and Friday mornings at our 1810 16th Street NW location.

DRIVING   Delivering food is a great way to have direct contact with people and brighten up their days with a few words of conversation and two bags of groceries. Each driver is typically assigned 4-7 deliveries on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday morning from our 1810 16th Street NW location.

DRIVING (SATURDAYS)   Volunteering for 2 to 3 hours on Saturday morning is a great way to start the weekend. All drivers should arrive between 8:45 and 9 am and drive into the alley at the back of our building to receive their bags.

ADMINSTRATIVE POSITIONS   It takes a lot of behind-the-scenes work to make FFA run efficiently. If you are interested in client calling, social media work, general administrative tasks or fundraising, please email us at
